Review of Senseo HD7982 Extra-Large Water Tank for Single-Serve Pod Coffee Machines

Senseo HD7982 Extra-Large Water Tank for Single-Serve Pod Coffee MachinesOur Senseo came from Sam's and was packaged with one of these, but I imagine that if I had bought a model without it, we would have eventually bought one.As the directions suggest, we run a cup of water (no pod) through the Senseo when we first start it to get the parts warm and make the coffee come out hotter. It doesn't take long to run through a standard-sized tank of water if you're doing that each time you fire up the machine. The larger reservoir means fewer refillings, about once a day for us instead of two a day.

The downside is that it does make the machine about 3-4" deeper than it would be otherwise, and make it not quite as sleek-looking.It's still very snazzy, though, and I think the convenience is worth a few inches of countertop space.

added 11/30/04:It looks like the Sam's in my area will no longer be stocking the Senseo OR its coffee pods. It's all been relegated to the clearance corner...

Product Description
Easily expand a Senseo coffeemaker's capacity with this extra-large water reservoir. The blue plastic tank feeds 40 ounces of water into the Philips Senseo coffee machine (sold separately), allowing for up to 10 cups of coffee instead of the usual 5. Thoughtfully designed, the unit provides a contoured shape for easy gripping, an extra-wide opening for convenient filling, and a flip-top lid with a splashguard to help prevent spills. The water tank can be used with HD7810 Senseo models only and is not compatible with other coffeemakers. Made in the USA, the water tank measures approximately 7 by 5-2/7 by 11-1/2 inches. Also, Senseo was awarded the ChefsBest award for best performing single-serve coffee appliance. The ChefsBest Award for Performance is awarded to the brand rated highest overall among leading brands by independent professional chefs.
